Carmela Marino (Italy)

distant bombs…
in my hands
the Three Wise Man

Comment: a ku that conveys a powerful social message in a (post?) Christmas context. The statues of the Wise Men that the poet holds in her hands are in fact a symbol of peace, since they are used to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in the Nativity scene. However, a sound of bombing can be clearly heard in the background (maybe on the TV news), keeping us anchored to a terrible and cruel reality. It’s a highly topical poem, especially in light of the most recent and global events, ie the growing conflict between Iran and the United States. The ellipsis (…) placed at the end of line 1 seems to echo the sound of the explosions, muffling and prolonging them in the second part of the work.
