Réka Nyitrai (Romania)

the giggles
of my secret lover…
blossoms

Comment: a bright, vibrant haiku which leads to a remarkable unification between the natural scenery and human emotions (keijō itchi 景情一致). In fact, the ‘giggles’ in the first line seem to turn into the blossoms (hana 花) in the second ku, while the ellipsis –serving as a cutting mark or kireji 切れ字 – makes this transformation softer and genuine. A florid (hanayaka 華やか) poem with an air of mystery given by the anonymity of the author’s lover.
